Help scientists map key freshwater aquatic invasive, non-native species

The AquaInvaders project aims to collect much needed data on freshwater aquatic invasive species around the UK.

It is a unique partnership between the Environment Agency, Scottish Natural Heritage, The Scottish Environment Protection Agency, the University of Bristol, the British Sub Aqua Club and the Biological Records Centre.

Download the app

The AquaInvaders app, available free from the iTunes App Store and Android Market, shows you how to identify each species and enables you to easily submit geo-located photos whenever you find one. The app features 26 species including 12 fish, 7 crustaceans (including the dreaded "Killer Shrimp"), a handful of exotic amphibians and also Zebra Mussel, Red-eared Terrapin and American Mink. There's an information page for each species with a photo gallery and also a "Confusion Species" gallery for each, to help you to correctly ID them.
