UK Ladybird Surveys

Cocinella septempunctata © Helen Roy

BRC coordinates two dedicated ladybird surveys, in collaboration with the University of Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin University. BRC has developed on-line recording for coccinellids and the data from this feeds into research at the universities and has beeen made avaliable on the NBN Gateway.

The Harlequin Ladybird Survey is aimed at the general public. It raises awareness of an invasive species, the harlequin ladybird (Harmonia axyridis), and allow members of the public to report sightings.

The UK Ladybird Survey is aimed at the wider recording community. Here, there are on-line forms to allow recording of all the UK's species of ladybird, as well as identification materials and ideas for activities.
