Common in Britain and Ireland.

Summary: found on a very wide range of deciduous and coniferous/evergreen trees and branches (most frequently on branches but occasionally on trunks) and heather.

Associations:

  • Deciduous branches: apple, alder, beech, birch, bird cherry, blackthorn, elder, elm, field maple, hawthorn, hazel, oak, pear, sallow, sycamore and sea buckthorn.
  • Tree trunks: beech, oak, pines and sweet chestnut.
  • Conifer/evergreen branches: Chinese juniper, cypress family, gorse, holly, ivy,  larch, pines, privet, sitka spruce and yew.
  • Other microhabitats: heather.

Sampling techniques: beating branches, brushing tree trunks and sweep netting.
