Lat and Long

I've been following the various threads relating to lat/long as a disinterested dinosaur whose notebook and pencil are unlikely ever to be out of signal range or suffer from low battery power (I must admit I do now use a GPS, but that's because my trusty OS maps were falling to bits). However, I've now encountered my first record to Verify with a lat and long (51.5590855 -1.3780293) but no grid ref.  - teach me to be so smug! I'd appreciate advice on how I can convert this to a grid ref please and also make a plea to keep grid refs as the default way of indicating a position on all records.

Thanks in anticipation - Steve

Hi Steve,

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the comment. Yes, allowing the use of both the GR and Lat Long for recording makes it all sometimes confusing and we are working on to improve it. As a verifier you can open the record details page and there you should see the calculated GR of that record.

Otherwise, if you have a need to do it outside the iRecord you might want to use a website like this: http://www.movable-type.co.uk/scripts/latlong-gridref.html

I hope that helps.

Thank you for the information - sorry, I'd not scrolled down far enough to see the Calculated GR section.

Thanks also for the alternative decode link.

When will the records coming

When will the records coming in from the iRecord app display the "Calculated Grid Reference" in the Geo-location field by default?

Hi Matt,

Hi Matt,

I am not sure, but once we find some time to do this, then it shouldn't be too long.
