How to restrict an activity by Local Authority area

iRecord spatial restrictions

We set up a new activity on iRecord in March (https://www.brc.ac.uk/irecord/join/scottish-borders-hares-survey).  Since this survey is geographically restricted to the Scottish Borders we were intending to restrict it by Local Authority area (Scottish Borders), but this doesn’t seem to be an option. We’ve had to go for vice-counties as the closest match.  Have we missed something? If not, would it be possible for Local Authority area boundaries be added in the future so that we can edit the activity? I would imagine that this might be required by other irecord users?

We previously emailed BRC on 21 March about this, but did not get a reply.

Kind regards,

Natalie

A good suggestion, but we do

A good suggestion, but we do not currently have Local Authority boundaries in the system.  If there is enough interest we would consider adding them, particularly if a funding source was available.

thanks, David

Dear David,

Dear David,

Thank you for your reply. That is interesting.

I believe the LA boundaries are available via OS Open Data, so obtaining the layer should not incur a cost.

Kind regards,

Dear Natalie

Dear Natalie

It was not the cost of the layer that I was thinking about, but the staff cost of importing them into the system and testing their use.

thanks

David
