A bulbous perennial herb of hedgerows, churchyards, roadsides and other grassy places, now usually closely associated with human habitation although formerly more widespread across farmland in S.W. Wales. Lowland.

Trends
An enigmatic taxon usually considered to have been derived from N. pseudonarcissus subsp. major in cultivation by Medieval times, although specimens closely resembling subsp. obvallaris occur in the wild in Spain. The Welsh population was much reduced by commercial bulb collectors in the early 19th century. It is better recorded now than in the 1962 Atlas.
