This perennial herb, often behaving as an annual, is a casual of waste places and rubbish tips, mainly from bird-seed but also from wool and grain. Lowland.
C. diluta was introduced into cultivation in 1781. It was first recorded in the wild in 1904, and the species is now a very rare casual.
A native of S.W. Spain, N.W. Africa and the Atlantic Islands.
