A woody, climbing perennial which occurs on old walls, in hedges and on river banks and waste ground. Lowland.
P. tricuspidata was introduced into cultivation in about 1862 and has been recorded from the wild by 1928. It is not as popular in gardens as P. quinquefolia.
Native of China and Japan.
