Although the parents have different ecological requirements they can be found in close proximity. Naturally occurring hybrids (including back-crosses) may be found on woodland rides and edges, in scrub, hedgerows and on roadsides verges. Garden primroses may sometimes act as the pollen parent, and plants cultivated as the garden Polyanthus also have this parentage and are occasionally planted in the wild, or found as casuals near dumped garden waste. 0?305 m (Tomintoul, Banffs.).
