Prunus domestica x spinosa (P. x fruticans)
A shrub or small tree of hedgerows, scrub and railway embankments. The hybrid is fertile, and can spread vigorously by suckers. Lowland.
A spontaneous hybrid between native and alien parents. This hybrid has not previously been mapped at a national scale, so trends in its distribution are difficult to assess. It is, however, likely to be under-recorded, especially as few recorders would know where to draw the line between the very variable P. domestica and this variable hybrid.
Apparently widespread in Europe.
