Caloplaca crenularia

Caloplaca crenularia. An attractive lichen which is frequent on stone, and rock especially in churchyards. It is characterised by the rather dark, reddish brown fruits and lack of an obvious thallus. Some time ago, it was called Caloplaca ferruginea until the form that occurs on trees and shrubs (Corticolous) was split of from it.
