Caloplaca thallincola

Caloplaca thallincola. Another coastal species occurring on acid rocks close to the sea. It is similar to C. flavescens from which it differs in having markedly longer marginal lobes, and is a richer yellow colour, and never pruinose but shiny. Occuring on acid rocks, the habitat is also  different from that of flavescens. This photograph was taken at Penmon Point on Anglesey, North Wales.
