Species account
Lepinotus patruelis A small (c.2mm) brown barkfly. Rare in Britain out-of-doors. Strongly brachypterous (very short wings). Males and females occur.
Lepinotus patruelis This species has a characteristic dark stripe running across the eyes.
Lepinotus patruelis The wings are very short and rounded and lack veins. These are easily detached and some specimens consequently appear to be apterous (wingless). Females frequently have a darker brown internal sac (spermatophore).
