Year I started recording:
Last updated on:

Primarily a Lepidopterist, but becoming increasingly interested in other insects as well as bryophytes. Average botanist. Also a lapsed birder.
I started moth trapping at the age of 13 and haven't stopped since...
My bogey species:
Pale Eggar, Sprawler, Waxwing
My most wanted:
Death's-head Hawk-moth, Oecophora bractella, Buxbaumia aphylla
All are micro-moths: Diasemia reticularis, Oxyptilus laetus, Ancylis tineana, Sterrhopterix fusca.
Well it's been a while...not the most productive PSL summer because the microscopes have been mothballed during home 'improvements'. But a few nice additions anyway: Glanville Fritillary (larvae on Isle Of Wight), Wall Lizard (Ventnor), Grey Phalarope, Club-tailed Dragonfly, Netted Carpet (larvae), Pimpinel Pug (larvae), Dark Tussock (larvae...a theme is developing here). Moth work at Whixall Moss resulted in some rare micro moths including Sterrhopterix fusca (larval cases) and Ancylis tineana (adults reared from spinnings on birch).
