Primarily a Lepidopterist, but becoming increasingly interested in other insects as well as bryophytes. Average botanist. Also a lapsed birder.
I started moth trapping at the age of 13 and haven't stopped since...
My bogey species:
Pale Eggar, Waxwing
My most wanted:
Death's-head Hawk-moth, Oecophora bractella, Buxbaumia aphylla
All are micro-moths: Diasemia reticularis, Oxyptilus laetus, Ancylis tineana, Sterrhopterix fusca.
Some weevils at Slade Wood, Gwent, 8/5/18: Ceutorhynchus pallidactylus, Archarius pyrrhoceras and Coeliodes transversealbofasciatus. South Gower 7/5/18: Osmia bicolor & Heather Ladybird. Going through old beetle samples has added some new species, including Cytilus sericeus (Cardiff, 2015) & Aegialia arenaria (Murlough NNR, NI, 2017). My first waxfly: Conwentzia psociformis. Nice to finally get some stoneflies on the list: Leuctra hippopus (16/3), Perlodes microcephalus (21/4), Nemurella pictetii (23/4), Nemoura cinerea (25/4), Leuctra inermis (26/4), Leuctra nigra (5/5), Isoperla grammatica (6/5), Protonemura meyeri (6/5).
