Blaste quadrimaculata A medium sized (c.3-4mm) barkfly. Uncommon in Britain and Ireland.

Distinguished from other species in the group by the prominent dark patch across the areola postica cell.

The side lobes of the subgenital plate form a prominent thin ‘V’ shape.
Compare with similar species
No photo of male forewing Male
The dark patch across the areola postica cell is much less prominent than in the case of the female. In some specimens it is completely absent.

The apex of the hypandrium has a distinct notch.
