Peripsocus didymus

Species account
Peripsocus didymus Medium sized (c. 3-4mm) brown barkfly. Widespread in Britain. Superficially looks similar to P. phaeopterus and P. consobrinus.
Peripsocus didymus No areola postica.  Forewings uniformly pale brown or occasionally with dark marks (see below).
Peripsocus didymus Forewings occasionally with dark marks particularly in the apical cells.

Subgenital plate (underside of abdomen) with the middle section between the two ‘arms’ as dark as the arms. The lobe at the apex of the plate narrows very slightly at the end.

Phallosome with sclerite arms crossing.
