Valenzuela atricornis

Valenzuela atricornis A medium sized (c.3-3.5mm) barkfly. Uncommon in England and Wales. This species is unusual in being associated with low vegetation rather than trees.
Valenzuela atricornis The forewing has a characteristic pale orange/tawny colour with a colourless line running along the edge of the pterostigma cell (see also V. burmeisteri).
Valenzuela atricornis The species can be readily distinguished by the dark brown band running across the head.
