Chilenocaecilius ornatipennis A medium sized (c.3.5-4mm) barkfly. Always macropterous, with only females recorded in Britain and Ireland. Native to Chile and Argentina, this recent introduction was first found in Co. Cork, SW Ireland in 2015, followed by records in 2016 in Northern Ireland, SW England and NE Scotland.
Chilenocaecilius ornatipennis Venation like Valenzuela spp, but distinctive wing pattern, including dark smudges where veins meet edge of wing. Vein Cu2 without setae.
Chilenocaecilius ornatipennis Overall coloration pale, but note band of red-brown pigment from base of antenna through eye and contrasting darker patches on thorax.
