How to edit a scheme

It is not expected that editors will add or delete recording schemes. Should an administrator do that, they shoud be sure to update the corresponding taxonomy.

You need to be logged in and have at least editor permissions to perform this action.

1. Click on the Recording Schemes menu item in the Key Themes list.
2. On the page that appears, find the recording scheme to be edited and click on its name.
3. On the page that appears, click the Edit tab.
4. Fill out the form. I won't give a blow-by-blow account but here are a few tips.
   1. When entering the address, use <shift><enter> to break lines, not enter, which will start a new paragraph.
   2. Taxonomic group. The entry in the list of recording schemes is the Taxonomic Group (Scientific) / Taxonomic Group (English).
   3. Entering the NBN Organisation Id ( if there is one) allows us to list datasets provided by the scheme to the NBN. Goto https://data.nbn.org.uk/Organisations and find the scheme name. Click the name and look at the url of the page. The number in the url is its id.
   4. Major and minor category. These affect where the scheme appears in the listing.
   5. Scheme. It may seem weird to choose the scheme from the list when it is already in the title. However, this enables us to join related content together in a reliable way.
5. Always click the Save button or your work will be lost.
