European Ladybirds

The European Ladybird Survey aims to encourage the recording of ladybirds across Europe. The app enables people to contribute more easily to the UK Ladybird Survey whose results have already shown declines in native species such as the 2-spot ladybird in response to the arrival of the harlequin ladybird, first recorded in England in 2003. Over the coming years we hope to extend the app and associated website to include all European countries. We are excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with you all in mapping the distribution of ladybirds at this large scale.

Improving Plant Monitoring

Submitted by admin on

You may be surprised that currently we do not have a good measure of changes in plant populations across the country. The new National Plant Monitoring Scheme (NPMS) aims to collect information every year to fill this gap.

Anyone interested in nature who can identify plants, or who is keen to learn, can take part. There are 4 levels so that volunteers can choose the one that best suits their knowledge and progress as they gain experience.
